Real-time cargo
visibility
is the most vital piece involved in managing the complete supply chain. All players in a shipment’s life cycle must have access to information about that cargo – from point of origin to point of destination.
Horizon Services Group takes
shipment information to a new level through real-time
shipment visibility with PortStat
.
PortStat enables
real-time, electronic and automated
receipt of relevant inbound cargo information
directly from
the shipper or carrier. Once the communication has been established, real-time information feeds are provided to the Port Authority’s internet browser-base application – PortStat – which also reduces the opportunity for re-keying errors.
The information received into PortStat will be
filtered into logical divisions. For example, the data
can be viewed by loads: forecasted to arrive into the
port, in-transit to port facility, in warehouse, etc.
Each of these information “filters” is defined and
tailored according to the Port Authority’s requirements
thereby allowing each facility to customize the
application.
Accurate shipment
information
is one of the benefits of automated/electronic data receipt because no one has to touch the information to get it to its destination – either a window (application) or data feed. PortStat
facilitates further slicing and dicing of the data
displayed by enabling all information to be easily
downloaded into Microsoft Excel. From Excel, data can be
added and/or deleted for ease of creating new reports.
The ease of information access (electronically
received = accuracy) assists you in making the critical
decisions necessary to manage and grow your
Port.
Electronic receipt and
data feed - in addition to being displayed on an
internet browser, PortStat can
provide a data feed to your billing and
operational systems. This enables you to:
- Generate invoices with
substantially less (or no) manual
intervention
,
- Facilitate faster
revenue recognition
by simply getting a bill to a customer
sooner and with fewer opportunities for error, and
- Automatically and
electronically feed operational systems for
enhanced and quicker planning and management of assets (in addition, no more manually typing management and load reports from carriers/operators into port systems).
PortStat
can be seamlessly integrated with barcode
scanning technology for warehouse
management functions, and directly fed into the
application. Subsequently, real-time access to the
information is provided for cargo management inside a
port facility. Often port operations (as well as
customers) are unaware of intra-port movement of
shipments. Whether freight is being moved to a shed or
rail head, barcoding enables tracking
within PortStat for deployment to internal associates or external customers.
The
Customer Window
- because PortStat
is browser-based, it can be rapidly and
(near) effortlessly deployed to the Port Authority’s
customer. Through a secure login/password your
customer can access your web site, and have real-time
visibility to the status of their cargo. The Port
Authority determines how much information should be
presented to their customers. Through PortStat,
customers can get self-service on a 24x7 basis enabling them to do business with a port on their schedule independent of office hours.
PortStat is the
answer to many of the issues encountered in the everyday
world where windows aren’t always open. Contact us to
find out how it can be tailored to make your operations
easier, and your customers more satisfied.

SECURE CARGO SYSTEMS - PORTSTAT
|
|
|
How can we guarantee safe
cargo shipments coming into our country?
What are the key elements
needed to ensure high risk freight doesn’t enter the
US?
What can shippers,
carriers, ports and terminal operators do to avoid being
a party to a terrorist attack?
These are questions that many individuals within the transportation industry have asked themselves and each other. The answer is common sense …
VISIBILITY
Visibility to
what?
Cargo visibility is the most vital part of securing the supply chain. All players in the shipment life cycle need to have access to information about the cargo being moved – from point of origin to point of destination.
Horizon Services Group takes
securing the supply life cycle to a new level –
SECURE CARGO SYSTEMS within PortStat
.
In conjunction with the cargo security initiatives (Container Security Initiative (CSI), Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), Operation Safe Commerce, etc) – being sponsored by either Customs and/or governmental agencies/entities, Horizon Services Group provides a system solution which addresses the three commonalities of these efforts:
- pre-screening of cargo before
it arrives at a US port
- need for cargo visibility
- utilizing information to
identify high risk cargo
The SECURE CARGO SYSTEMS
within PortStat application solution provides
the data capture and management mechanism to assist in
the decisions of whether cargo should enter the US.
PortStat
, a browser-based application, serves as a storage area for detailed shipment information. Through this data repository, organizational-specific filters break down vital cargo information into manageable pieces.
